læsø

We had lovely summer days on the island. Læsø lies between Denmark and Sweden, and the nature there reminds me of both. Along the roadside are plenty of small shops where you can buy organic vegetables & herbs, and simply put money in a jar. In the late summer you can find lots of chanterelles and wild berries on the island. The children took a swim in the sea and in the mornings we sat outside with our coffee.

sabine timm

German artist Sabine Timm are using vintage objects to make the most wonderful miniature universes and stillebens with titles that make me smile. Like yoga lesson for trees and sleeping box for tired combs.

This week we are going to spend some days at the small Danish island Læsø. I will show you what we saw of fine things and places on the island, when we are home again :^)

1  Flora in the woods with her beloved rubber boots
2  Koldskål from Øllingegaard is so good & definitely the best if you don't make koldskål yourself (which I do not)

Oh so many amazing colour combinations in this old Swedish house! I like the green floral curtains, the brown checkered table cloth & all the blue shades in the kitchen very much. See more pictures here.

flea market

The flea market season has started and I have visited a few in the past weeks.

Picture #1 was an old lady's table at a garage sale. She had so many beautiful things and she was very sweet as well! I bought the blue potholders from her. The book at picture #2 is a fine Swedish schoolbook from 1952.

svinkløv

We drove to the North Sea with the children today to visit the beautiful old seaside hotel Svinkløv. We go for a walk there sometimes and this afternoon we had cakes & coffee.

tove jansson's house

For 30 years Finnish author Tove Jansson spent all her summers in a small cottage on the island Klovharu in the Pellinki archipelago, Finland. I would love a summer with my family in a place like that. Pictures via this great Tove Jansson site.

naturhistorisk museum // natural history museum

I går tog min søn & jeg toget til Aarhus. Vi gik en smuk tur i parken & besøgte Naturhistorisk Museum. Deres udstillinger er klassiske & lidt poetiske, hvilket jeg synes er fantastisk fint.

Yesterday my son & I took the train to Aarhus. We went for a fine walk in the University park & visited the Natural History Museum. The exhibits are classic and poetic, which is what I love about this museum.

vem ska trösta knyttet? // who will comfort toffle?

When I saw this beautiful vintage edition in original language at Curio Books I had to show you. They have such good taste in books. We read Who will comfort Toffle? (1960) very often at my house, but in Danish.

Moomin is a really good site about Tove Jansson & her work.

Billeder via Curio Books.
